Virginia Gay Hospital (VGH) and the Virginia Gay Hospital Health Care Foundation (VGHHCF) announce changes to their board of director members for 2019. James Hodgson retired from service on both the hospital and foundation boards after serving since 2003. Tedd Mann has also retired as a member of the foundation’s board of directors after serving since 2007.
“We are deeply grateful for both men’s service, guidance, leadership and support throughout the last 15 years,” stated Robin Martin, VGHHCF. “Healthcare in Benton County saw great improvements during their tenure with the completion of a remodel and an expansion project at the hospital, the addition of the Atkins Family Medical Clinic and new construction at the Vinton Family Medical Clinic.”
Mike Riege, hospital administrator added, “Ted and Jim provided great leadership to the hospital because as engineers, they are intelligent guys. They quickly grasped the complexities of providing healthcare to a large community. And as business partners, they understood how difficult it could be to run a business. Their advice on management was invaluable regarding the business-related side of Virginia Gay.”
Beginning this month, Sara Stueffen, DDS will be joining the VGH board of directors. Stueffen owns Sara Stueffen DDS PC Family Dentistry in Vinton. Therese Foth and Marleen Patterson will also begin serving on VGHHCF’s board in January 2019. Foth, who is already a member of the hospital’s board of directors, is a Vice President/ Assistant Trust Officer at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust and Patterson is retired from Rockwell Collins and resides in Atkins.
Riege said that the addition of Sara Stuefen makes the first time in the history of VGH that three health professionals will serve on the board at the same time. “The experience she brings will provide a tremendous advantage in the clinical management of this healthcare enterprise. Sara is a caring, compassionate healthcare provider who VGH will have the privilege of working with for many years to come.”
Martin added, “though I’ll miss our two retiring board members, I’m excited to be working with all three of these ladies. They have shown an enthusiasm for bettering the communities they live in by being involved in many local organizations and volunteering in the area. They will be great additions to our board.”
