Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab is pleased to announce they earned a Zero Deficiency Inspection during the week of November 6, 2017 from the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. Mike Riege, Administrator for Virginia Gay Hospital, Clinics, Nursing and Rehab stated, “This is something that rarely happens and I’m proud to say this makes the second one our nursing home has received in just the past six years.”
The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals is the designated state survey and certification agency responsible for inspecting and licensing/certifying various health care entities, as well as health care providers and suppliers operating in the State of Iowa. Entities subject to the Department’s oversight and regulation include nursing facilities, skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities, intermediate care facilities for the intellectually disabled, hospitals, hospices, home health agencies, programs and facilities caring for children, assisted living programs and elder group homes. Health Facilities Division personnel also investigate complaints alleging improper care or treatment of patients, residents, and tenants in licensed and certified entities.
Riege continues by saying, “Congratulations goes out to Nurse Manager, Jess Henkle, RN-BC, Lisa and the rest of the team at Nursing and Rehab, along with Chelsea in Social Services, Dawn in QI, Sara in Dietary, Mike in Environmental Services, Kim in Human Resources, Tina in infection control, Michele in Materials, and of course all of the other staff members who work together to make this one of the finest nursing homes in this part of the state.” To see how Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab compares to other facilities in the area, additional information is available on the Nursing Home Compare page at www.medicare.gov
