BARRY DIETSCH, CFO – EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

My name is Barry Dietsch. I have been employed at VGH for 10 years. I work in the Fiscal Services Department as Chief Financial Officer. In my position, I am responsible for all the financial operations within the organization. What I love most about my job is the ability to collaborate with great teammates to yield positive outcomes that impact both patients and employees. I believe my biggest contribution to the team is that I have a passion for making VGH better every day for long-term sustainability. If someone were to describe me in three words, they would be passionate, analytical, and frugal. I chose to pursue a career in my field to allow me the opportunity to make a difference.  It is so much more than accounting. It’s being part of a team that takes care of the community during their highest need situations. It is very challenging, but also very, very rewarding.

I have been married to my wife Tracy for 28 years. We have three children: Hannah (29), Payton (26) and Devan (22). We also have three grandchildren: Maverick (5), Kash (1), and Brynley (3 months). My hobbies include spending time with my grandkids (I can’t live without them), traveling, and playing golf and pickleball. One fun fact about me is that my first job was washing dishes at a small-town diner for $1.75 per hour when I was 12 years old. My favorite vacation (so far) is our trip to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. My favorite food is my wife’s meatloaf. I volunteer at Better Together Animal Rescue here in Vinton. My favorite childhood memory is going to my first major league baseball game in St. Louis with my dad and grandpa. An experience that has had a lasting impact on me was when I received a third degree burn on my leg when I was in second grade. It presented mental and physical challenges at a very young age. A cause I am passionate about is children. I believe every child deserves love, support, and opportunity.

I’ve enjoyed my ten years here at VGH and I am looking forward to many more!  Go Team VGH!!
