Community Scam Alert
We have received reports from two community members who were contacted by phone and saw “Virginia Gay Hospital” displayed on their caller ID. However, the caller requested personal information, including their date of birth and Medicare information.
Please be aware that this appears to be a phone scam. Caller ID can be “spoofed,” meaning scammers can make it appear that they are calling from a trusted organization.
🔹 Do not provide personal, financial, or Medicare information if you receive an unexpected call.
🔹 If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and call Virginia Gay Hospital directly using our published phone number to verify the request.
🔹 If you believe you may have shared personal information with a scammer, contact your financial institution and report the incident to Medicare if applicable.
