Dr. Meeker Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Brian Meeker was awarded the UI PA Program Lifetime Achievement and Service Award for his many years of service to PA education. Dr. Meeker has precepted 9-11 students every year for decades.

After graduating from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences and completing a Residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Dr. Meeker put his roots down in Vinton, Iowa, where he continues to practice today. Originally a Unity Pointe entity, in 1992, the health center became The Virginia Gay Hospital, where he has long worked as a Family Medicine practitioner.

He is the Medical Director for four nursing homes in the area, the Cedar Falls Motorsports Park, and several area ambulances and first responder services. He has been the Benton County Medical Examiner for 30 years. He regularly performs endoscopy, colonoscopies, and upper GI scopes for the facility. In his free time, he can be seen on the sidelines of nearly every Friday night home high school football game—as a fan and medical provider, as needed.
