Employee Spotlight – Andrew Dickson
My name is Andrew Dickson. I work in the X-Ray Department as an Imaging Technologist. I have been employed at VGH for almost 5 years. My job duties include performing multiple imaging modalities and providing patient care. The thing I love most about my job is my coworkers. I chose to pursue a career in this field because I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare, and I job-shadowed an X-ray tech while I was in high school. My biggest contribution to the team is that I am a quick learner and a good teacher, so when we get new machines or programs, I can help others get up to speed.
My hobbies include power lifting, walking my dog, and doing art and crafts. One fun fact about me is that I squat 600 lbs and bench 405 lbs. My favorite food is pizza. I am passionate about people getting news from reliable sources and getting the whole story. My favorite childhood memory was visiting a lot of zoos with my family. I love seeing exotic animals that are being well cared for, if they can’t be in nature. My parents, Steve and Michelle. My dad is a welder. My mom is a nurse. I also have a younger brother, Cullen. An experience that has had a lasting impact on me is that I fell and broke my distal humerus in my elbow, and the x-ray tech I had was so gentle and took her time with me. The impact that’s had on me is that I want to be able to provide that for my patients.
