Taylor Baker – Employee Spotlight
My name is Taylor Baker. I work in the Human Resources Department as a HR Generalist. I have been employed at VGH since October 2024. My job focuses on recruitment, but I help with all HR related tasks. What I love most about my job is connecting with people and helping them find a job that’s the right fit for both them and the organization. I am a people person, so anything that involves helping people brings me joy. I graduated from the University of Dubuque with a master’s in business administration in December 2022. I personally feel that getting this job with VGH is a huge success for me as I am able to grow professionally in a new environment, which is something I am proud of.
I come from a family of six. My parents, Kim and Jeff have been married for 22 years and have four children between them, me and three boys, Dustin, Justin, and Jesse. My oldest brother, Dustin, is married to Alana and has three children, Silas, Cassius, and Rocky. My brother Justin is married to
Audrey, and they have a baby on the way! Being an aunt is one of my favorite things! My hobbies include reading, baking, doing puzzles, and spending time with friends and family as well as my cat, Lou. I love doing anything that allows me to be creative such as painting, making signs and posters on Canva, and doing DIY Pinterest projects. One fun fact about me is that I was born in upstate New York. I moved to Cedar Rapids when I was six years old. When I was 14 my family moved to Northern California where we lived for five years before returning home to Iowa.
My favorite vacation spot is any place that allows me to disconnect, relax with a book, or adventuring a new city. My favorite vacation I have taken was a trip to Mexico with my family. We enjoyed time on the beach and went to Cenote and Mayan ruins. My favorite food is cheeseburgers made by my mom and grilled by my dad. They are better than any other burger out there. One thing I can’t live without is diet coke (I wish I was kidding). If someone were to describe me in three words, they would be loyal, responsible, and affable (thank you best friend Megan). My favorite childhood memory is baking with my mom on Christmas Eve, a tradition we still hold to this day.
