Virginia Gay Hospital Enhances Breast Imaging with New 3D Mammography Technology
VINTON, Iowa – Virginia Gay Hospital is pleased to announce the installation of a new Fuji ASPIRE Cristalle 3D Mammography unit, bringing advanced breast imaging technology to patients throughout Benton County and the surrounding communities.
The upgraded mammography system offers several innovative features designed to improve patient comfort, image quality, and diagnostic accuracy.
One of the most notable enhancements is the addition of Comfort Paddles, which utilize a flexible four-way tilting design to provide more even breast compression and help reduce discomfort during mammography exams.
The new unit also features an improved hexagonal detector pattern that enhances detector sensitivity while helping reduce radiation exposure. In addition, advanced artificial intelligence (AI) software provides radiologists with a second opinion during image review, supporting greater accuracy in breast cancer detection.
Another key advancement is Intelligent Automatic Exposure Control processing, which optimizes image quality while delivering lower radiation doses for all breast types, including patients with breast implants.
“Our goal is to provide the highest quality breast imaging services while making the experience as comfortable as possible for our patients,” said mammography technologists Lindsey and Tiffnie. “This new technology allows us to deliver exceptional images with enhanced accuracy, lower radiation doses, and improved patient comfort.”
Virginia Gay Hospital CEO Tina Eden noted that investing in advanced technology is part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional healthcare close to home.
“Investing in the latest technology allows us to continue providing high-quality, patient-centered care for our communities,” said Eden. “The addition of this new 3D mammography system supports early detection efforts and helps ensure our patients have access to advanced breast imaging services without having to travel far from home.”
Regular mammograms remain one of the most effective tools for the early detection of breast cancer, when treatment options are often most successful. Lindsey and Tiffnie encourage women to stay current with their annual screenings and to talk with their healthcare provider about breast health recommendations.
Virginia Gay Hospital offers mammography services Monday through Friday, and walk-in appointments are welcome. Patients are encouraged to schedule their annual mammogram or stop by the Mammography Department for more information.
