American Hospital Association

Vinton, IA (date) – The American Hospital Association (AHA) presented the AHA 75-year milestone award to Tina Eden, Chief Executive Officer on October 6 during the Iowa Hospital Association Annual Meeting awards ceremony held in Des Moines. Liz Summy, FACHE, AHA Regional Executive, was on hand to present the award which recognizes Virginia Gay Hospital for 75-years of participation and leadership in the AHA.

“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize the Virginia Gay Hospital for their 75 years of membership in the AHA. We know how important hospitals like Virginia Gay are in serving rural communities,” said AHA President and CEO Steve Walsh. “Like many hospitals that were founded as singular entities to serve a distinct community, Virginia Gay Hospital is a pillar of the Vinton, Iowa community.”

Founded in 1923, Virginia Gay Hospital has served the communities of Benton County and eastern Iowa for more than a century. As a community-focused healthcare organization, the hospital provides a full range of services including emergency care, outpatient services, rehabilitation, specialty clinics, and long-term care.

“Receiving this 75-year milestone recognition from the American Hospital Association is a tremendous honor and a reflection of Virginia Gay Hospital’s longstanding commitment to the communities we serve,” said Tina Eden, Chief Executive Officer of Virginia Gay Hospital.  “It also exemplifies our dedication to collaboration, continuous improvement, and staying at the forefront of healthcare practices to ensure we provide high-quality care that meets national standards and benchmarks. We are proud to build on this legacy while continually advancing the care and services available close to home.”
