Virginia Gay Hospital Staff Participate in Obstetrical Emergency Simulation

Virginia Gay Hospital staff recently completed an Obstetrics (OB) simulation designed to enhance preparedness and teamwork during obstetrical emergencies.

The realistic training exercise provided physicians, nurses, and support staff with the opportunity to participate in a simulated infant delivery while responding to an emergent situation involving both the newborn and mother. Throughout the scenario, participants worked together to assess changing conditions, communicate effectively, and provide coordinated care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Simulation training is an important component of ongoing professional education, allowing healthcare teams to practice infrequently encountered but high-risk situations in a safe, controlled setting. These exercises strengthen clinical decision-making, reinforce evidence-based practices, and improve communication among interdisciplinary team members.

“Regular simulation training helps ensure our staff is prepared to respond confidently and efficiently when real emergencies occur,” said hospital leadership. “By practicing together, we continue to enhance the quality and safety of the care we provide to our patients and their families.”

Virginia Gay Hospital remains committed to continuous education and hands-on training that supports clinical excellence and ensures the highest standard of care for the communities it serves.
