Virginia Gay Hospital Visitor Restrictions
Visitor Restrictions for Virginia Gay Hospital Effective Thursday, March 18, 2021.
All visitors must meet the following general visitor requirements.
- Visitors must be 18 years of age or older and free of illness.
- One visitor per patient room at any given time for all outpatient, emergency room and inpatients. (two for pediatric patients). Staff may need to further restrict visitors based on patient needs.
- Skilled nursing patients may have additional visitors as their condition permits. Skilled nursing patients are limited to two visitors at a time and the visiting age is not restricted.
- Those who are ill, have a known exposure to COVID-19, have been told to quarantine, or have a COVID-19 test pending should not visit.
- All visitors will be screened for symptoms of fever and illness when arriving. Those that refuse to be screened will not be allowed to visit.
- Visitors and patients must wear a disposable face mask for the duration of the visit. Visitors unable to wear a face mask for medical reasons will be provided a face shield.
- Anyone who enters the building should perform hand hygiene as they arrive and as they leave.
- Visitors must maintain social distance from staff and other patients and visitors during their visit.
- Visitors must stay in visiting area. If you need assistance, please use the patient call light and staff will assist you.
- Please limit movement within the facility and avoid common areas until leaving the building. There are restrooms near the hospital entrance that you can use if needed.
Circumstances that fall outside of these guidelines must be presented to management for a risk assessment and informed decision making by the patient/family/facility.
If you become ill within two days after visiting, you must notify the for the safety of other patients and staff.
Designated caregivers/visitors in IP unit:
- 18 years of age and older
- Siblings are not allowed
- Free from illness such as (fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea, vomiting or runny nose)
Designated caregivers are required to wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol- based hand foam/gel upon entering and exiting patient’s room if they are going to touch or assist the patient. Team members will provide instructions if additional PPE is required.
We understand these visitor restrictions may be difficult for you. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now restricting visitors is in the best interest of our patients and staff.
